So happy to announce that the Fort Mitchell Historic Site is now open for our regular schedule.

We are open on Fridays from 11am to 4pm Eastern Time, Saturdays from 10am to 4pm Eastern Time, and Sundays from 12pm to 4pm Eastern Time.

There is a new pioneer garden started by a wonderful group of master gardeners! Come and visit this very important historic spot and learn the role it played in Alabama settlement and Statehood. Also, the rich history of the Creek Indian Nation is all around us here.

Fort Mitchell Historic Site

National Historic Landmark

Located 8 miles south of Phenix City, Alabama. Take US Highway 431 South to Highway 165 South 5 miles. The Fort is adjacent to the National Cemetery.

The Visitors Center

Upon entrance to Fort Mitchell, check in at the Visitors Center. The Visitors Center houses the museum, theater, and a "walk through time" where lifelike displays depict historical scenes and events of this area and time period. There are artifacts including arrowheads, tools, guns, pottery, and household items. In the theater a film presentation is shown describing events and history that actually happened in the periods between 1813 and 1860.

The Carriage House

There are 23 vehicles in the park. Most are located in the Carriage House which contains an assortment of carriages, carts, wagons, and surreys.

We’re offering a membership to folks who would like to be a part of our program and support the historic site. For an annual fee you would have free access to the park on our days of operation, discounts in the gift shop, discounts on the rental of the Tavern, use of the picnic pavilion, and a quarterly newsletter with the latest news and activities at the park.
